(I am not strong in low level, but it might be interesting The problem is that the computer's BIOS must support booting from a CD. In actuality, Compaq and Hewlett Packard both make servers that will indeed boot from their CDROM drives, and they supply setup/installation CD's that if are present in the drive when the computer is turned on will commence setup and installation of various operating systems. Other than those two companies, I don't know any others who make computers that can be set to boot from the CD. It would be conceivable that someone could modify a SCSI adapter's BIOS code to do so, that would be a nice feature to have.
