It uses the ISA - IDE driver. Ah, that's the source of confusion... No, there isn't really a PCI driver for it yet. It shows up as ISA, but that _should_ work nevertheless. If it didn't in your case, there must be something broken with it -- i know of plenty of mainboards where it works flawlessly. Did you try operating the disk in a slower mode? The disk is usually initialized by the BIOS to some sort of PIO mode, and FreeBSD simply doesn't change this. So if this was overdriving your disk interface, it might cause data corruption later.
