I actually e-mailed HP about this (HP tech support is pretty awesome), and
this is the response I got:

     Eric,
     
     The drive works with tagged command queuing, what was told to you is
     incorrect.
     
     Tagged commands are simply commands sent to the drive. The drive can't 
     do multiple commands at once, so it sets up a queue of commands, each 
     command get a "tag" to keep track of the commands, in case one of them 
     fails and the drive has to report a Unit Attention.

So I suppose it's the combination of the card and the drive that causes the
problem ? But I don't want to shell out $$ for another card, since the NCR
SCSI card works like a charm with my MB!
