Somebody The difference is that the intention in building the Lisp machine was to have a faster machine for Lisp than general-purpose computers. The Java stuff intends to be cheaper and people say in today's computing world that's what makes the difference. The argument that general-purpose CPUs have such a high speed in price/performance development that both ways are doomed to fail may still considered to be valid. > thinks up of a cute-sounding language, and suddenly it's the > savior of the world... HA! Right. Lisp is still the only real programming language :-) Martin -- %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Martin_Cracauer@wavehh.hanse.de http://cracauer.cons.org Fax.: +4940 5228536 "As far as I'm concerned, if something is so complicated that you can't ex- plain it in 10 seconds, then it's probably not worth knowing anyway"- Calvin
