Can they quote you at least one machine where it works with tagged
commands enabled?

Yes, we know what tagged commands are.

Interesting.  Why do they respond with an ``Overlapped commands
attempted'' then?

No, these drives are also known to fail with tagged commands enabled
on other controllers.  If memory serves me correctly, as well on other
OS's, but i don't know some{thing,one} to quote you here.
