I have yet to find a BSD derived system that can't. Even older versions of SunOS 4.x support multiple NICs. I suspect you can put in as many NICs as you have slots and system resources for. FreeBSD is just derived from BSD 4.4 Lite. Free, Net and Open BSD are all derived from the same sources. Many *BSD users do drop in multple NICs and use a supported box as a router.
