For some masocistic reason we've decided to move to 2.1.6... We are running NIS and life has been great... However, we upgraded one of the NIS clients to 2.1.6 and NIS is behaving oddly. The newly upgraded client doesn't recognize usernames and passwords at the login prompt. However, if we log in as lroot (local root on the client, i.e. not served by the NIS server) we can ypcat passwd and everything seems fine. All of the users are visible. Even more odd is the fact that we can su these users... Any suggestions as to fix this... Note: Upgrading the server is low on my priority list, although if it's the only way I'd like to know... So I guess the heart of the question is: Are the implemetations of 2.0.5 NIS and 2.1.5 NIS compatable? Thanks in advance, Allen R. Ballman
