I'm sure RAID 0 is not what you want but for the record I've been using the
ccd drivers on a news spool for about 6 months without a hitch.  Very
stable, makes a BIG disk, and relatively easy to setup.  I have not really
seen any perceptible performance gains but that may be just the nature of
running 65K interleaves for news.
