Installing Linux is just a bunch of check box options and pre-configurations that don't make you deal heavily with the OS to get it working and preform routine tasks. NetBSD install is pretty rough on an uninitiated user, but when you're done you really KNOW what you've got. IMHO, the FAQ and Install notes were everything you need to know to get things running on the mac (with the small exception of proper formatting instructions for the disks. BTW, who do you submit suggestions for the mac install notes to anyway?). Some have complained about the need to make multiple posts to the newsgroup to get answers, but I'm not so sure. I began this thread with a simple question about the lack of an adduser binary, and it's become a rather large scope discussion about NetBSD (not in any way due to me). Pretty cool though. Back to my origional question: I've got a script that works from me (about 90% from others and 5% I made, and 5% of unknown origin ;) and am astounded by the great comments I have heard. Thanks to all. BTW if anybody ever comes up with one of those fabled books, gimme a yell! -- Jeremy Williams jeremyw@usa.net
