I have always run in "dangerously dedicated" mode on all my disks ide >5gig, scsi, zip, floppy whatever.... first I have know idea why you call it dangerously dedicated, I find that my drives are very stable this way, I rather think it is the native state of a freebsd system "true ufs". also I have never ever had a problem reinstalling a new master boot record from microsoft on on of theese so called "dangeously dedicated disks" a) FDISK /MBR <--- this will put the microslop master boot record back b) FDISK <-- this allows you to put a partition back c) Format <-- this allows you to use the disk with microslop d) oh yea, ya must have a microslop os to do the above. anyhow, what do I know? I haven't run that ms crap for well the cover of my FreeBSD 1.1 cdrom says may 1994... dennisg@seanet.com
