I have a similar situation with an OPTi 931 board which is a
soundblaster 3.2 compatible thing - or so say the docs.

It's plug and play so FreeBSD doesn't activate it. When I boot in
DOS and run the initialisation program there, it'll initialise
the card for me. Using Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot to FreeBSD keeps the
card active and FreeBSD will detect it.

By the way, does anybody have PnP scanning code ? I'd like to get
rid of that stupid reboot :-)
