I recently installed the xmcd package to take advantage of playing audio
CD's on my FreeBSD 2.1.5 box....

During boot the kernel reports the following during probing

wdc0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7 irq 14 on isa
wdc0: unit 0 (wd0): <Maxtor 72004 A>
wdc0: unit 1 (atapi): <OTI-SCYLLA/F011v200>, removable, iordy

wcd0: 344Kb/sec, 240Kb cache, audio play, 255 volume levels, ejectable
tray
wcd0: 120mm data disc loaded, unlocked

If I place an audio CD in the drive during boot the kernel will report
that the drive contains an audio CD.

I therefore assume that the CDROM is capable of playing audio..

However, I can't get xmcd to recognise the drive at all!!!
I've tried everything I can think of...

I believe the device is a generic non-SCSI
(its an Octek 8x CDROM - CDR 688 Version 1.0
Part Number : PM58000009-000)

The user manual for the drive does not say whether it is SCSI but does
make mention of connecting the drive to a soundcard's IDE controller.

I therefore assume it is an EIDE/IDE drive.

I tried using /dev/rwcd0c as the device for the drive and chose to use
the non-SCSI option in the xmcd setup...

But still no success....(even with other config's)

Has any one got any suggestions ????

Thanx in advance,
