Lines: 24 gurus of the world, i'm on the verge of buying a 486 on which i plan to run 386bsd, and i'm in ignorance of which video cards that XFree86 will get along with. I know to stay away from trident, and the ATI 8514/a. i'd be most grateful if anyone could give me advice on what chipsets, bios, controllers, UARTS, etc. to avoid, and any personal tips or warning you'd like to send my way. this is my first pc, so i'd appreciate anything you' have to say. the box that i'll be getting is going to be as cheap-o as possible, so my biggest worry right now is to get stuck with lame hardware. NOTE: if you can, please send e-mail to : peace@px1.stfx.ca. i'm posting this from a freenet system that has been forced to go B&D, and my account will soon be trashed. a wannabe, brian shea, peace@px1.stfx.ca
