Nothing requires a disktab entry. :-)

It's always possible to create the required data on the fly.  In newer
systems, ``disklabel ... auto'' assists you in doing this.

Btw., any freshly installed FreeBSD doesn't have a disktab entry for
its disk either.  Sysinstall doesn't bother to write one (since it
also doesn't use one itself).
