Not security, but you'll get seriously hosed if for some reason your
Xserver doesn't start properly.  init will restart it over and over
again.  xdm to the contrary, will give up after 3 or 5 attempts.

Then something else is wrong.  Are you sure you have edited xdm's
Xservers file so the server has been started on vt04?  Otherwise, it
competes with the gettys on the first availabe VTY.
