As much as i agree on the Xaw appearance (though this has never intended to be an X11 toolkit, but only proof of concept), i dare to disagree regarding the pleasentness of CDE. I simply find its look very, very ugly. :-) But all of this is a matter of taste. The good thing with X11 is that there's much room for personalization.
