I ask a question and get my head bit off. My interest in the program was to two fold: 1) See if the compiled version ran faster. It doesn't. 2) Make it more difficult for novice users to change code they should not be changing. Have you ever been told your program 'does not work' and found that the user 'modified' your program code? SHC does help here. If anyone is interested, SHC can be found at: ftp.netusa.net/users/eli/shc-2.4.tgz The 'trick' in compiling is to remove the line the compiler complains about, then compile the thing. Since I was able to figure out such a 'simple' thing myself, by your response, I am now a 'software developer'. Fantastic. Apologies in advance to anyone who feels offended by my attitude. I only asked a question on an interesting piece of software as a user of FreeBSD, an amazing operating system. I did not realize I was dealing with sarcastic people. Aloha, Bill Martin Honolulu, HI
