Ok, netbsd 1.2 was installed on a scsi harddisk now and it worked too - no problems.
Since netbsd 1.1 works flawlessly with IDE disks it's likely that there has been
introduced an error in 1.2 .
Again: In 1.1 using IDE and in 1.2 using SCSI there are no problems at all - even if I
reset the system without "halt"-ing it first: fsck has no problem cleaning up the
partitions.
But with 1.2 and IDE I get kernel panics during writing to the hd and after that
fsck can't recover all files. Usually I also loose vital files for the system.
It usually takes me 5 or more attempts to install the system from scratch - just
to be so lucky and be not confronted with another kernel panic.
I think it is time I'd write an official bug report to the nsdi folks.
