I have an HP 4-8 gig DAT drive model # HP35480A and am having some problems getting FreeBSD to recognize the drive. During a cold boot, my Adaptec 2940UW sees the drive on the daisy chain and then loads the cards bios just fine. Then BSD boots and after it settles the scsi devices it tries to detect them...it detects my 2 gig IBM drive just fine, but then hangs immediately after that and the activity light on the Adaptec controller stays lit up as if the SCSI bus had locked. If I let it wait long enough it will time out with errors and then reboot the system.. I've tried every possible combination of termination, so I don't think that is the problem (ie. Different termination settings on the controller from with it's setup, because my tape drive is external). Does anyone know why this tape drive wouldn't working? I've also heard from a lot of people that the 2940UW controller seems to have problems with BSD 2.1.5. (Btw - this tape drive works fine on the same machine if I boot to a DOS partition.) Thanks, everyone! Have a good one! -- []--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==-- . --[] Youth and talent are no match for age and treachery. )) )\\ // _``\`,- '''' ''- ,,,/ / R o R - A l u c a r d .---'a> , < ,<' << ,<, ' / \ `v^w ' , << ,< ' < < / \ ````--' \ ,,,---''/ <' // pigdog@netcom.com ii :: < ' / \ ii</ \ `\ / <</ / /</ <</
