I need help on how to get the router and name resolver to work with slip.
I downloaded the dialup-slip package, and get it to install properly.
It calls, and goes into slip mode properly.
I have to manually run the ifconfig and slattach commands, since our
SLIP server gives us an essentially random IP number when we go into
slip mode.
>From there, I can telnet to my IP number (the one the slip server gave me),
but cannot telnet or ftp anywhere else, even to the IP number of the SLIP
server itself! This is strange. Of course, neither tthe SLIP server
(telesys.ots.utexas.edu) nor my (new) ip numbers are in the /etc/hosts file.
Should I manually put them in (replacing the IP number each time I login with
slip!?!)
What else do I need to do?
