I am trying to configure pppd 2.2 patch level 0beta3 on a FreeBSD 2.2-BETA
system to successfully route a /24 (class C) down a 33.6k connection. I have
read not only the FreeBSD handbook, the FreeBSD FAQ, and Linux's NAG and
PPP-HOWTO, but a number of other 'small' sources as well to no avail.

It seems as if you want to set up a PPP client, there is tons of information
available, but its high and dry when you are interested in the serving aspect.

All the preliminary stuff has been taken care of. pppd works: the kernel has been
reconfigured for PPP support, as well as IP gatewaying/routing. pppd 'works'
insofar as I can negotiate a connection between the FreeBSD machine and the
call-in machine (which is a Linux 2.1.x machine).

The Linux pppd software, does in fact work under the exact same parameters as I
can change access-points (i.e. call another server [a Cisco router]) and things
work happily.

I've configured the FreeBSD machine to have a special dialin, and several of the
necessary options to make pppd 'tick'.

All routing issues aside, I'm having trouble even negotiating an outward connection
from the client machine while connected to the FreeBSD machine. (i.e. I can
telnet no where, and can ping no where), so something is obviously not working
correctly.

I'm looking for input on this matter as I do not appear to have the kind of
information that I need to do this task.

Any suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated.
