I'm installing this ethernet card (PCI) in a machine but it won't
`attach' itself to the network. "LNK" is on, "100" and "FDX" are off
(it's a 10 Mb ethernet). The ezstart tests are all ok. During booting
BSDI says:

de0 at pci0 iobase 0xfc80 irq 10: SMC 8432BA DC21140A [10-100Mb/s] pass
2.0
de0: address 00:00:c0:96:54:f2
de0: enabling BNC/AUI port

I don't understand why it says BNC/AUI cause its only UTP but ok, if I
continue and execute "ifconfig de0 <address>" the console displays "de0:
transmission timeout". If I try to ping any machine in the same network
it continues to say "transmission timeout". I tried forcing the card
into 10 Mb but it won't work. ifconfig has an option "link?" but I can't
seem to get information except that they are used for SLIP (CSLIP or
something). Does anyone have a solution, or does anyone know where I can
find more info on BSDI? (a good book?)

Thanks,
Marcel
