What were you at before? If you were happy with it (and you sure seemed
to be) then it seems like a good place to be.

I'd get a cheap generic CDROM and look for a "Toshiba" label on the box, or
get a SCSI controller and look for one of the places selling 1x SCSI CDROMs
seriously cheap (someone was boasting about getting 'em for $6.95!).
