You could sum up my total experience with UNIX type OSs in three words: slim to none (I don't even know what the questions are yet!). I decided to give it a try, though, and maybe learn something in the process. I'm trying to set up my computer for BSD, and I could use a little guidance. Here's the configuration: 486DX/66 w/32mBytes RAM C: drive - 420Mb IDE D: drive - 850Mb with two partitions: D: 350Mb Primary DOS E: 500Mb Secondary DOS (for the UNIX Partition) EIDE Controller for HDs & CD-ROM Sony CDU55E 2X CD-ROM 3.5/1.44 Floppy HP/Colorado 250/350Mb Tape Drive Logitech Bus Mouse Trident SVGA adaptor W/SVGA monitor US Robotics 28.8 Winmodem (problem?) I plan to boot BSD from the second Hard Drive (the E: logical drive). If that's going to cause a problem, I'd like to know. I hate the thought of moving all those apps from the C drive and repartitioning that sucker! I will if I have to, though. BTW, what would be the best pre-config for installing FreeBSD? I'm not sure that the Winmodem will work with BSD, but would be interested to hear from anyone who has made it work. It may not be a problem, but I suspect it is. Anyway, thanks in advance for the advice. Bob Marsh (probably bitten off more than I can chew)
