On which architecture? I'm assuming you are using NetBSD-i386 because
mostly i386 users forget about this.

Add "options XSERVER,UCONSOLE" and if you are using X-Free86 <3.2
"options COMPAT_11" to your kernel configuration file. If you have
a VGA board which requires direct memory access e.g. a Matrox Millenium
you have either to add "options INSECURE" to use the "Aperture Driver"
kernel module.

The X-Free86 3.2 distribution for NetBSD.
