Hello,

We are using the SMC9332DST's with no problem at all. Recently, I
tried using their new Etherpower 10/100 card. I got a notice in the
box that reads:

Here is an excerpt:

... This EtherPower 10/100 network card require the latest SMC network
driver (SuperDisk v2.0 or later) because of its higher performance and
added feature content. It will not operate with drivers provided with
older EtherPower 10/100 network cards.

The drivers provided with Windows 95, Windows (v3.51 and v4.0), and
NetWare will not work with this network card. Do not select any
default drivers included with these operating systems. The latest
SMC-supplied drivers (SuperDisk v2.0 or later) MUST be used with this
card. ...

This was a yellow insert found in the box when we bought it. It was
the first part of the "read me first" installation information.

I assume that the network drivers that come with BSDI are the older
ones. We have 4 older SMC cards all which work properly with various
BSDI boxes in house. The newer card gave us a message similar (maybe
exact) to the message you got below. We never could get that card to
work and it is still sitting on my desk.

We contacted SMC about the drivers and no new ones were available for
BSDI. This was about a month ago. You might check their web page
(www.smc.com) or their ftp site (ftp.sco.com) to see if new drivers
exist.

Good luck!
