You have either corrupted/out-of-date binaries, corrupted/out-of-date
kernel, or hardware problems.

Older Pentiums have known problems.  I've got a laptop running 2.1.6.1
*right now* with a P75, but when I first got it I ran some of the
Pentium diagnostics off the net.
