1) You might want to use packages if you have little experience with
compiling things yourself. ISTR that the Apache package contains
an htpasswd.
2) You should post error messages, as opposed to claiming ``I can't
get this to compile.'' Don't blindly assume other people will be
able to see _your_ errors.
3) Link it with -lcrypt. That's probably even already inside a
comment in the Makefile. Did you ever look there?
