How about when both systems are : running the same version of a cross compiler (GNU), compiling the : same source code? Nope. The GNU compiler is much more developed on some systems. For instance, on intel x86 it is fairly developed... _but_ if you were to look into the Pentium GNU compiler (currently being developed), you would find that on Pentium & Pentium Pro machines it would compile up to 30% _faster_. I would strongly suspect the the GNU compiler is at different stages of development on intel vs sparc systems, and know it is quite a bit behind on Alpha systems. Paul
