There are various external TAs that you can connect to your serial port of choice and that look and feel like a modem, including the venerable AT command interface. E.g. USRobotics Courier I-modem, ZyXEL Elite 2864I, some ELSA and Elink devices, etc. Some of these TAs also include a full-featured V.34 and Fax modem, others only offer ISDN protocols, typically X.75, V.120, V.110, and async PPP to sync PPP/RFC1618 conversion. -- Christian 'naddy' Weisgerber naddy@mips.pfalz.de See another pointless homepage at <URL:http://home.pages.de/~naddy/>. -- currently reading: A.E. van Vogt, The Voyage of the Space Beagle --
