Hi, Wes! ;-) Used to have the privilege of working with Wes... He pretty damn aggressively pushed FreeBSD, if I recall correctly, and now runs some variant of BSD on his home machines as well as some other cool OSes. Now, just to keep this FreeBSD-related... runs pretty good. ;-) Although, since I moved a FreeBSD box to NYC, I'm seeing socket problems come out of the blue, and will try going to 2.1.6 (from 2.1.5) tonight because frankly, I really don't have the time right now to find out *which* line in what source file is the exact cause of the problem. ;-) (big departure from my usual modus operandi...) Kudos to the FreeBSD team (and all the contributors) for what they've accomplished with so little (relatively speaking) support! >Why are Panasonic CD-ROMS still not supported? They seem pretty common. I'm not sure... I'm guessing it's either a) something's misconfigured here, or b) nobody's come around with support for them in the release you use. Keeping in mind, all the popular/active development crowd seems to be with the Linux crowd. *sigh* It's just that...simply put, *BSD is pretty damn stable for most everything, and it doesn't enjoy the latest wave of popular development. I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable than I with those Panasonic CD-ROM's will pipe up, though. :) It seems that 2.2 has incorporated a *LOT* (and I mean.. a *LOT*) of changes (for the better) and extra support for various devices. -Dan Foster Internet: dsf@frontiernet.net
