You'll find a step-by-step-instruction in the handbook lynx /usr/share/doc/handbook/handbook.html ,chapter 5.2 and in the FAQ: lynx /usr/share/doc/FAQ/freebsd-faq.html, chapter 8.1 It says there something like "now edit your configuration file.". At this point, look for a line options ATAPI #Enable ATAPI support for IDE bus in your kernel configuration file. If it's not there, add it. If it's there, but the line starts with a #, remove that #. Then there has to be the line device wcd0 #IDE CD-ROM in the configuration file, too. Now proceed with the compiling procedure :-) Before using a cdrom, you have to mount it( being root): mount -t cd9660 /dev/wcd0c /cdrom where /cdrom is an empty directory. Bevor removing a cdrom from the drive, you have to unmount it: unmount /cdrom >at this point, I'm ready to dump the installation and start over >(again). There's gotta be a way to make this work, right? My wife is Since I did install everything at once, I 'm not too sure here, but I think it's possible to add the rest (src, XFree86, etc.) with the installation program /stand/sysinstall. >Thanks >Bob Marsh (in Essex County, NJ) Good Luck!
