With Windows you have a choice of similar apps from multiple vendors, while with UNIX you typically have a choice between zero and one which will really address the problem, and maybe a few more which could be used to do the job in some fashion. People who think {vi,emacs}+{groff,TeX} are a word processor should not quit their day job to sell UNIX word processing to the masses.
