Yep. Using a lot of cobol too.   AS/400 is moving to 128 bit and
will have JIT support.

According to my dad (who is never wrong!) at GE, they chose the
app.  OS and hardware decisions are made to support the app.
Choosing an os and hardware, then figuring out what apps are 
available is akin to the tail wagging the dog.
