Subject: Why is the 32nd pty renamed?

I've noticed in the /dev/MAKEDEV script that /dev/ptyqf gets renamed
to /dev/ptyv0. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? I didn't
see anything in the man pages about this.

This rename looks like it would only allow 32 ptys to be created. For
example, the libutil routine openpty will fail as soon it tries to
access /dev/ptyqf, and this in turn would cause telnetd and friends
to fail.

So, is it safe to remove the rename, or should it be left as is?
