Spillers) Organization: Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH (USA) Lines: 24 NNTP-Posting-Host: hela.ins.cwru.edu I am trying to set up a usenet feed on my 386BSD box, I have jury rigged a "pretend" feed fomr my existing one (I did not use UUCICO but instead created the directory structure, copied the files and created the active file by hand.). rn works fine, I can read the two groups I installed and it all looks fine. nn will not boot it says it can't access the MASTER file which as far as I can tell is a subject database to speed up searching and such. from the documentation it says I should make sure that nnmaster (the program which supposedly builds the database) can write to the directory where master can be kept (it can). but nnmaster always complains that it is already running (it is not) and it wil not build the database so I can't really run any of the other nn programs (like nnadmin) until the MASTER file has been created to see if anythign else is up. ay response to this is most appreciated, even responses like "don't use nn newsreader X is better" because I am looking for some good news readers. -- "Stay Sane Inside Insanity" -- The Rocky Horror Picture Show sysop of the Rocky Horror Picture Show BBS 1-618-529-5999 24Hrs USR Dual Standard ** programming support ** NON-Etherealized
