Actually, Kaleb, groff/TeX/LaTeX is one hell of publishing environment!  
Maybe word for windows is fine as a memo producer, but have you done any 
multiple-chapter, multiple-section, footnote/endnote/bibliography, or
intense header/footers in win word??  Grf!  Bill G. must have a
_special_ place in his heart for those of us who attempt (attempt_ed_,
in my case) medium- to large-sized projects in winword.

Yes, you're right: emacs+LaTeX is not a _GUI_ word processor, but for
any reasonably-sized project, I'd sell my
{insert_possession_of_great_value} to not have to do it in any
windows-based GUI word processing system.
