It's a non-issue wrt. writing userland applications.  Nobody ever
claimed they were affected much by the licensing terms of the
underlying OS.

The only point that has ever been brought up by the BSD defenders is
that it's more difficult to use GPLed code e.g. for embedded
controllers, where you are going to add a lot of your own code
everywhere in the kernel.
