I was speaking of FreeBSD.
Let me repeat this more clearly:-

[ ... ]  John was saying that [FreeBSD] 2.1.5 is slower than 
[FreeBSD] 2.2.  In Linux terms, [FreeBSD] 2.1.5 is a production 
release and [FreeBSD] 2.2 is a development release.
It isn't vapourware.
