Instead of commenting out the line in /etc/hosts that said something like: 127.10.0.0 myname.name.host I deleted it and inserted the IP address and domain name for my computer. Why? You ask. Because I'm stupid!! That's why. ;-) For the life of my I don't know why I didn't comment it out as I usually do until I check to see what effect it might have. So now I'm off the network. I can't log in remotely and can't telnet or lynx out. I'm running FreeBSD 2.1.6-Release. If someone could post or email me a copy of their /etc/hosts file, I'd be most thankful.
