I see them right here in root of disc a. When I made the conscious
descision to make myself a i86 unix system, first thing I did was
buy a cdrom, (in my case I grabbed freeBSD becuase I had seen the
name before) and study it carefully for about a month. Then I got
out a peice of paper and wrote down what parts I had to get, I
bought the parts to fit the operating system, not grab what junk
I had laying around. That works for windows, and that can be a good
thing, but it probably won't work too well for freebsd (or linux).
One (of several conclusions) I came to was that I was better off
with a scsi based system. I didn't even worry about ide drives,
atapi, plug and play, etc. Boy was I right. I stayed away from
SIIG host adapters and Sony (and sound blaster) cd roms and went
adaptec and mistumi and seagate drives and guess what;
After putting it all together, installing dos so I could have
a base os for the install, inserting the rom into the drive,
and typing "install" at my cdrom prompt, *bam*
I was recompiling the kernal about 1/2 hour (or so) later.
NO PROBLEMS.
