A great companion to 'Firewalls and Internet Security by
Cheswick/Bellovin' (aka 'The old testament') is

'Building Internet Firewalls by Chapman/Zwicky (O'Reilly)'

(aka 'The new testament'), with the typical O'Reilly 'HowTo'-approach.
