Note that there are at least 3 "standard" ways of wiring a Mac RS232 cable - older Macs did not have enough inputs to connect both DCD and CTS, so there were two cable wirings giving you either flow control or carrier detection. More recent Macs have an extra input, leading to a third cable spec for both DCD and CTS.
