Oops!  /etc/hosts isn't really important.  If you like, you can have
the following (given the above ppp.conf lines):

    10.10.10.10 temporary.my.side me
    10.10.10.11 temporary.isp.side them

and don't forget to change /etc/host.conf to read:

    hosts
    bind

Once you've established a connection and received the real IP numbers,
these entries won't be seen again.
