I recently built the perl5 port under FreeBSD 2.1.6.1, and perl displays
warning messages whenever invoked:

system@mail$ /usr/local/bin/perl -d -e 42
warning: setlocale(LC_CTYPE, "") failed.
warning: LC_ALL = "(null)", LC_CTYPE = "(null)", LANG = "en_US.ISO_8859-1",
warning: falling back to the "C" locale.

How can I a) fix or b) suppress these warnings? Thanks!
