I don't think the emulation is much of a problem here.  Remember,
BSD/OS isn't really emulated at all, they use the same syscall vector
as FreeBSD, since it's a 4.4BSD system.

The ksh93e suffers from the various idiosyncrasies as Korn shells
usually do, but if you're already used to it, it should serve you
well.

(I'm not, i'm more used to be able doing:

some-long-running-process
^Z
bg
logout

But i keep ksh93e around as a good reference shell for Posix
comparisions. :-)
