This weekend I'll finally have all the hardware in place to finally begin running FBSD again (although it is 2.1.0-- should I upgrade?) and would like very much to toss my modem into that box and access it across my lan from my NT and '95 boxes. Basically, I'd like the FBSD box to sit there and look for attempted off-site accesses and automatically dial up my ISP when such accesses are attempted. I'd also like for it to periodically (once or twice per day) dial up on its own and grab my mail spool and selected USENET groups, then store those for perusal later when I'm at home (ISP is overloaded in the evenings, but is generally clear during the day). I'd like to be able to sit down and learn all there is to know first, but that's rather impractical at this time, so, in lieu of that, a pointer to some detailed, step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated. This would all be a piece of cake if I had a static 24/7 link, alas. Many thanks, and a promise to make positive contributions someday. Troy Smith
