Here's an update: When the installation seizes, I can go to TTYV4, reboot and invoke /kernel.GENERIC directly and boot the system fine (although the system info isn't there). I've gone back and installed 2.1.6-R on the system and it installed without a hitch... Has anyone else had any problems with 2.1.7? Ed Paquette ed@ncia.net
