I had the _same_ problem, expect for the fact that it would freeze up
when installing the proflibs (about 30% and then boom!). This
frustrating problem kept happening for about the past 3 days. 
I'm installing 2.1.7R on a PPro, 200Mhz. The install finally went
all the way through last night without a hitch, but I have no 
idea as to why it wasn't working before.
