I booted from said boot floppy, did nothing except exit from the main menu.
After that, my machine wouldn't get past the initial detection of my
SCSI controller (the one that happens before there's any question of
whether to boot from floppy/disk, right after memory check). 
To be more precise, the system locked after the message "Press ctrl-A
for SCSI-select utility" (or something to that effect), which is part of
the controller, which is an Adaptec 2940U.
The problem didn't go away until I switched the computer off and on again.
It really had me worried for a moment .. what happened? I'm reluctant to
use that boot floppy again..
