After that, my machine wouldn't get past the initial detection of my SCSI controller (the one that happens before there's any question of whether to boot from floppy/disk, right after memory check). To be more precise, the system locked after the message "Press ctrl-A for SCSI-select utility" (or something to that effect), which is part of the controller, which is an Adaptec 2940U. The problem didn't go away until I switched the computer off and on again. It really had me worried for a moment .. what happened? I'm reluctant to use that boot floppy again.. Markus
